The celebration of Maulid Nabi in Aceh Besar is one of the most vibrant cultural and religious traditions in Aceh, marked by a series of activities such as dikee maulod, kenduri maulod, the presentation of idang meulapeh, the recitation of the Prophet’s history, and the collective participation of the community. This tradition serves not only as a religious expression but also as a symbol of cultural identity, social solidarity, and the ancestral heritage of the Acehnese people. This study aims to analyze how students from Aceh Tengah who live and study in Banda Aceh interpret the festivities of the Prophet’s Birthday in Aceh Besar. This study is important given the cultural differences between the Gayo people (Aceh Tengah) and the coastal communities of Aceh Besar, who have distinct ritual expressions and religious traditions. The research employs a qualitative descriptive approach, utilizing data collection techniques such as in-depth interviews and participatory observation during several Maulid celebrations in various villages across Aceh Besar. The research findings indicate that students from Aceh Tengah view the Maulid celebrations in Aceh Besar as an expression of the community’s love for the Prophet, a force for social cohesion, and a means of strengthening intergenerational bonds. They also believe that the high level of community participation reflects strong values of mutual cooperation and respect for tradition. Nevertheless, some students noted that these festivities differ from the Maulid traditions in Aceh Tengah, which tend to be simpler and focus on religious study sessions.
